[Rynn]

Valene sat back. "Anything I can do for you, Kal?"

[Rifter]

"Unless you got something to ease this pain, unfortunately no." Kal sighed.

[Jak]

After a while Aldan returned with a fairly well-sized deer in toe. He had nothing to carry water in, so instead he harvested some berries for Leon.

[Rynn]

Valene took out her dagger and skinned the deer (not perfectly but not too much meat was lost), then chopped up the meat and set it up so the meat roasted over the fire on sticks. "Will forced me to learn how to prepare and cook meat. I'm not the best at it, but at least I know." She chuckled.

((I'm trying to make it so she isn't perfect at it, but she has the idea for it.))

[Jak]

"It's more than I know," Aldan replied with a small smile "and... more than Leon can handle at the moment..."

With no bowl to use Aldan mashed a small bunch of berries in his hand for Leon to drink from. It was a pitiful sight watching Leon reduced to drinking berries out of Aldan's hand, nothing to cover himself but what others could offer.

Aldan spoke over his shoulder "save the deer hide. At the very least I can clean it and make something for Leon, even if it's just shorts." Aldan smiled down at Leon and chuckled "better yet I could make a skirt. You have nothing left to be embarrassed about, right? And with I skirt I could cover more of your lower half."

Leon just panted softly as he managed to swallow another small drink. Aldan chuckled "that bad huh? Sorry. These were the only berries around here that weren't poisonous. Besides, these berries will help you sleep. And sleep is a must for you right now."

Leon slightly flinched when Aldan went to check his temperature, but the berries were starting to take effect and he slowly drifted to sleep. After checking Leon's temperature Aldan went to the deer hide and examined it to see how much was usable after it was cleaned

[Rifter]

Kal sighed, he knew that he wasn't being too much help right now. The pain from his wings were sucking the energy right out of him, "Does anyone need a hand?" He asked.

[Jak]

"I have Leon covered" Aldan replied

[Rifter]

Kal swung off his cloak and offered it to Aldan and Leon, "Here, keep him warm while he sleeps. I'll be fine without it."

[Jak]

Aldan took the cloak gratefully and laid it over Leon, saying "my thanks. The Jacket I offered could only cover so much"

[Rifter]

The corner of Kal's mouth twitched slightly in a smile as he walked the short distance back to the fire. Sitting down on a decent sized rock, he gently moved his injured wing around to look closer at his wounds. Looking over the torn membrane, he groaned, flying was going to be a near impossible thing for him for quite some time.

[Rynn]

Valene looked up from the skewers of meat she had made.  It was good they were getting along.  They're going to need all the help they could get.

She was roasting one of the skewers over the fire.  She tipped up the one skewer cooking.  "Who wants first bite?"

[Jak]

Aldan accepted the skewer and took a good bite. He smiled at Valene and chuckled "much better than raw rat"

((Guess what he ate while hiding in the mansion))

[Rynn]

Valene made a bit of a face at what Aldan said about the rats.  "That sounds terrible."

[Rifter]

Kal chuckled grimly, "Raw rat is a helluva lot better than raw bird. Fricking stringy as hell." He reached over into the fire and took one of the other skewers that looked like the meat was done and took a rather large bite, choking it back, he coughed, "Yep, a lot better than bird."

[Jak]

Aldan chuckled again and replied "you obviously haven't tried Raven meat. A bit tough to swallow, but not nearly as stringy as Robin meat"

((Why has Kal eaten raw bird meat? I thought he grew up in a village?))

[Rifter]

((Time between that and now.))

Kal shook his head, "Ravens blend in a little too well to the surroundings; I didn't get dragon eyes when I was born."

[Jak]

"true. Though, I think we can both agree that snake meat is a crime against humanity"

[Rifter]

Kal nodded, "Yeah, first remembering which of the buggers are poisonous or not is tough enough, I was never good at remembering the rhymes, and then there's actually catching the things."

[Rynn]

Valene looked on to the skewers she was cooking. She took them off the fire and laid them on some leaves she had quickly grabbed earlier. "Ok, i suggest we eat what we have here, and go catch some sleep. I don't care what time of day it is, but non of us have slept for a while now. And especially now that we have some guys on our tails, excuse the pun, we should get some rest."

Valene looked at Leon. "We will also have to take turns carrying Leon, which, I know for you two it'll be a little difficult with our wings. But we'll have to try." She was really sad and annoyed about Leon's condition.

[Jak]

Aldan nodded and replied "Kal and I may have to resort to Bridal Style with Leon, but it will be manageable." He finished feeding Leon and went about making shorts for Leon out of the deer hide.

[Rynn]

Valene picked up the skewers and brought one to Kal. "I don't know if you like deer, but it's either this or berries." She gave a little smile at Kal. "I'm glad that we are able to group together. We'll need each other's help to keep away from those guys."

[Rifter]

Kal took the skewer gratefully, after his last few run-ins with bad berry choices, deer was a welcome alternative, "Thanks Valene." Bringing the meat up to his face, he stopped for a moment and looked over at her and grinned, "I'm glad too." He stared at the still-sizzling meat, "I hate to be he who casts a shadow over this, but loneliness is a heck of a poison. I think I was starting to lose it slightly being out there on my own." He chuckled as he muttered, "As if I ever had it to begin with..." He tore a chunk of the skewer to shut himself up.

[Rynn]

Valene looked at Kal. "Where were you hiding before now? She asked curiously.

[Rifter]

Swallowing the chunk of meat, he thought for a moment, "Anywhere I could find shelter. Caves, under bridges, in trees, abandoned attics and so on." He tore another chunk from the meat.

[Jak]

Aldan stayed quiet as he worked with the hide. What could he say to such a tale? What should he say? He was no master at comforting people, and he was quite sure Kal wouldn't like him critiquing his hiding spots.
