Back from dinner. Hard shell tacos really aren't filling...
As for a character, I'll have read (which I'll do now) and probably do a little research.

I'm loving both Cadros and Saeran. Saeran is my Woobie and Cadros is my Stoic Woobie/Not So Stoic, though the latter doesn't show up until later

Re: Casual Chatter
With mages you have to be careful: They usually are either in The Circle since a young age(or since birth) and forbidden to leave, or they are called 'Apostate' and hunted down by Templars. Mages find few non-mage allies, and many Fereldens wouldn't think twice about turning in an Apostate for reward money.
For mages outside The Circle I suggest reading about Anders from Dragon Age 2 for an idea of how to make it work, otherwise the only way they would be safe is if they were a Grey Warden

Re: Casual Chatter
For simplicity's sake, I think I'm going to go with a Grey Warden Mage (I did read up on The Joining) that was born into The Circle and currently considering going with Elf for a race (still need to read up on that). Everything else will come.
Re: Casual Chatter
Cool. Also, if you'd like, you could say he just recently joined. That way it would make sense for them not to know everything a Grey Warden can and must do

Cadros would be an excellent teacher... so long as the student comes to him XD He rarely explains things without being asked

Re: Casual Chatter
So are there only force mages? Or are there other types of mages? And what tips and notes can you give me on making a mage character for this roleplay?

Re: Casual Chatter
Yeah, Dan's link is best. Otherwise, just keep in mind Andrastians and Templars and how both will react to your character

Re: Casual Chatter
There's only one clan in Ferelden and they live in the Brecilian Forest. If you are a mage you were likely The First to your Keeper, The First being The Keepers student and successor. If this is the case then they will have known Saeran before he was taken because he was originally The First to The Keeper before being taken.
The First also spends most if not all of their time with The Keeper. With a Dalish it is the norm for them to say old elvish greetings and curses, but they don't replace random words with old elvish, Adahl is not used when referring to a tree. Also, Dalish despise humans. They will work with them if they must, but will do so with much contempt and rudeness.
Anything else you'd like to know?

City Elves are forced to live in a slums area called The Alienage. They barely have enough coin(gold) to feed themselves, humans leave all the dangerous work to them, and they are treated like scum by most. But, they are a close community. Everybody knows everybody.
Sadly, since Elves risk going extinct, when they come of age they are put into an arranged marriage with a suitor from another towns Alienage. Though they can't marry for love these unions usually end happily enough, but with the suitor being from another town or city it means one must leave their home to go to the other.
On another note: Elves are like rabbits when it comes to breeding(according to Fenris). They are faithful, with few exceptions, but can have up to five children with their lover, maybe more

Re: Casual Chatter
I was thinking a list of places where they came from (I'm going for the literal meaning of 'origin') but I have a different idea.
