Notes for characters:
Men
- Men have three classes: 1st class is for the rich and influential, 2nd class are soldiers and tacticians, and 3rd class is filled with the poor and factory workers that build the parts for the soldiers guns and Vanguards
- You can guess how little respect 3rd class men get
- Babies are grown in factories. The DNA of a couple is combined to create a unique individual
- Nothing about the technology of men is sleek or slender
- Men have never seen food. 1st class eat are the only ones that even see real food. Soldiers eat a bland nutrition tablet that supplies them with three hours of energy. Factory workers eat something that is closer to green kibble than anything else and tastes like dog food
- Men focus on strength the most, possibly a second factor, but all are taught that only the strong survive and are respected. This is because Taraak is a desolate militaristic planet
- The society is highly militaristic with no holidays to celebrate except army parades. The holiday of Christmas having been long forgotten by them.
Women
- Though they don't have classes, women often fight over small things, such as competing with neighbors over who has the nicest garden
- Looks and popularity play a big role in the female society. Lacking in either can seriously dishearten women
- Babies are born when a woman, called the 'Fama', implants her egg into her partner. The one that carries the baby to term is called the 'Oma'
- Nothing about the technology of omen is clunky or unattractive. Appearance means everything in the female society. Not all women will have a hissy fit if it's unappealing, but they pay great attention to appearance
- Women turn every meal into a fine dining experience. They are very picky and always require a good meal if they aren't being attacked
- Women focus on speed, sabotage, and beauty. This is because, while Mejere is more technologically advanced than Taraak, women waste too much energy for frivolous pursuits such as beautifying their living units out of vanity and because of this they had to close off one of these units to prevent blackouts, which left many women homeless
- Women celebrate most holidays, doing what they can to make sure they can celebrate even on their ships

Rakgi and Millay

Name: Rakgi (pronounced Rah-koo-jee)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 11"
Vanguard type: Twin Blades and two cannons with a moderate firing rate. Clunky, like all Vanguards, with a desert camo paint job. Very aggressive and in the enemy's face, limiting possible counter attacks for unprepared fighters
Bio: Rakgi was a 3rd class citizen that was made a soldier when, after being caught trying to steal, managed to nearly take out six trained soldiers that had surrounded him. Most soldiers despise him, claiming that his becoming a soldier was because the tacticians were desperate for more fighters. Others either are happy for him for moving up, or jealous of the attention he gets.
After breathing in dust from a broken crystal that covered the ship Rakgi seems different. He has higher endurance, but something in his psyche is... wrong. While he used to be a cautious fighter, now he is more aggressive and merciless. It seems this change is only apparent during battle.

Other: Rakgi was never claimed from the factory, therefore he did not get a name. He somehow survived, how he doesn't remember, and befriended a factory worker who gave him his name. He was actually taken in by the worker that found him, but they died before Rakgi was old enough to remember.
Name: Millay Ashtown
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Height: 5' 8"
Dread type: equipped with standard Dread weaponry. Sleek, like all Dreads, with various reds and greens coloring the metal. Will try to outmaneuver enemies and attempt to get multiple enemies to accidentally hit each other
Bio: Millay was separated from her parents during the evacuation from the closed-off living unit. With all of the confusion she was unable to reunite with her parents. She was taken in by a Mejere Dread fighter who took very good care of her, and even helped her train when she wanted to join the army.
Millay joined the pirate crew after being saved from a drifting ship that was taken down by men. She took up the duty of delivering supplies mid-battle when not actually fighting in her Dread. Millay's Dread used to be her adoptive parent's, but she took it after realizing they died in the attack.
Appearance: the 'wings' are decorations on her shirt
Other: Millay, despite almost being killed by them, is very curious about men

- The Crystal was a byproduct created by The Paksis Pragma during the fusion. The dust that got in Rakgi's blood and lungs has made a sort of connection between him and The Paksis Pragma, specifically the ship's sense of self preservation and defense. If he or the ship is threatened he will become aggressive. When he becomes aggressive it's like a different person is in control, Rakgi remembers nothing when he gets that way. To make matters worse, if the ship is infected with a virus then Rakgi will start showing ill effects such as cold sweats, lack of appetite, and even cough up blood should the virus go too far. He is very much connected to the ship, but damage he receives does not affect the ship. The aggression he shows is because the ship's sense of self preservation has been feeding on Rakgi's negative emotions from when he was left unclaimed to the harsh factory work to the angry soldiers that looked down on him. It has developed a will and voice of its own and is terrifying Rakgi with its 'kill all' attitude.
On the plus side, Rakgi gained greater endurance, which saved his life after the wormhole, and heals from physical wounds faster(he doesn't heal instantly, just faster). Rakgi also has some control over the aggression, he is able to suppress it when not in a combat situation. He is no threat to the crew or ship, just a tad unstable.

- Millay found her parents just before the battle that left her in the drifting ship. She thought they would welcome her with open arms, but they didn't recognize her and decided their daughter was dead. They stopped accepting people who claimed to be their daughter because so many that were jealous of their social standing had tried to trick them.

Teagan and Adonis

Vanguard type: N/A
Bio: Teagan was born and raised to be a soldier, specializing in field medicine. Although he had a strong build, Teagan was just barely an adequate fighter, much to the shame of his parents. He tried his best, but he was just too clumsy when taking an offensive stance. He was best suited for defense and outlasting the enemy. This, however, was not an acceptable compensation in the aggressive militaristic eyes of Taraak.
Teagan was always afraid of confrontation, he preferred to help and heal, but to please those around him he buried his fear and fought. Everyone at first saw right through him, even ambushed him in an alley and beat him senseless to prove he lacked true will to fight outside of training. This changed when, after listening to his peers and opponent jeer at him during training, he dislocated the other soldiers jaw with two consecutive hits. After that he was finally seen as a fellow soldier, some even feared him.
Teagan resumed a mainly medical based training regime, finally able to train in peace. Few dared to provoke him, and it took a lot to truly do so, but when unavoidable he would remind his peers exactly why he was free to choose his training.
Being a medic he does not have a Vanguard, but this suits him just fine because he knows that his job starts when the fighters return. A rational man, once he sees the situation they are in he is willing to set anger aside for the sake of survival. He still doesn't trust the women, but this is only natural since men are taught since birth that women are monsters

Name: Adonis Django

Gender: Female
Height: 5' 10"
Dread type: equipped with standard Dread weaponry and a prototype shield module. Sleek, like all Dreads, with various reds and gold coloring the metal. Uses speed to try and make targeting her difficult and will try to attack from behind or target weak points
Bio: Adonis was very close to her Fama. Her Fama and Oma were nervous about having a child, but went through with it. Adonis' Fama treated her like an actual being, teaching her what she needed to know and playing with her, but her Oma treated her like an obligation, drilling manners and social protocol into her.
Adonis was involved in a large scandal that shamed her and her family. Her Fama scolded her, but forgave her. Her Oma on the other hand, couldn't bear the humiliation. She left Adonis and her Fama without a word of goodbye or telling where she was going. When Adonis' Fama grew ill she told Adonis to follow her dream and become a pirate. There, she could travel as far as she wanted, fight men to her hearts content, and be home all at once. And all this would be in service of Mejere.
After her Fama died Adonis did join the pirates, but she had surgery to change her appearance so, should the need arise, she could act as a spy among men. When she first spied on men she was disguised as a 3rd class factory worker, using a special miniature device to change her voice, and it was during this job that she got the plans and components for her prototype shield module. She has spied on men a few times, but these jobs bared little fruit.
Appearance: During her spying she realized how pretty fire looked, and so she based her usual outfit on a fire motif
Other: The ornament on her ears do nothing, but make great stabbing implements in a pinch

Where his surviving father lost the will to fight he would have been demoted to 3rd Class, but Teagan knew his father would never last long and so began training at a young age. He was known as the youngest cadet during training, where training starts at age 7 he started at age 5
